ZTE Axon 20 5G price, specs, availability and more

While we’d already caught wind of such a device, ZTE has now officially confirmed that it will be launching the world’s first mass-produced phone to feature an under-display camera, and it’s called the ZTE Axon 20 5G.

A recently-discovered TENAA listing gave us our first glimpse of the Axon 20 5G, but in a press release issued on 16 August, ZTE confirmed that this device was officially destined for market very soon and would indeed include the world’s first under-display camera.

Those familiar with the technology will know that we’ve already seen concept devices sporting it, from the likes of Oppo and Xiaomi, but it looks as though the ZTE Axon 20 5G will be the first device with the feature that consumers will actually be able to buy.

When and where is the ZTE Axon 20 5G coming out?

ZTE’s official release cites a launch date of 1 September, however, the phone is currently slated for a China-only release. Its last major envelope pusher – the Axon 10 Pro 5G – also made it to markets in the Nordics and the Middle East but ZTE hasn’t yet revealed any further launch plans for the 20 as yet.

It almost certainly won’t make its way to the UK, however, where the ZTE is marked as a high-risk vendor and is unable to sell its phones anymore.

What features does the ZTE Axon 20 5G offer?

The under-display camera is the main selling point of the phone, but as its name points out, 5G is also on the table, along with a few other goodies.

Pulling the specs from the aforementioned TENAA listing, here’s what the ZTE Axon 20 5G offers:

6.92in 2460×1080 OLED display
In-display fingerprint sensor
Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor
64GB/128GB/256GB storage
microSD expandable
Rear quad-camera setup
64Mp primary sensor
8Mp ultrawide
2Mp depth sensor
2Mp macro camera

32Mp under-display front camera
4120mAh battery
Fast charging
Android 10 w/ MiFavor UI
Colours: White, blue

As the spec sheet highlights, besides its pioneering front camera, the Axon 20 5G isn’t a flagship but instead a capable-looking mid-range 5G phone, powered by the same 765G chipset found in devices like the LG Velvet and OnePlus Nord.
