Google Play Pass coming to more countries with new apps and games- Tech Advisor

Google has announced that its Play Pass service for Android that offers apps and games without ads or in-app purchases is expanding outside of the US.

It’s coming to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom this week. In addition, new and existing US customers can now opt to pay a $29.99 annual subscription fee.

At launch, Google Play Pass promised 350 apps games “completely unlocked” from ads and in-app purchases. Titles included AccuWeather, Monument Valley and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Google said it has since added over 150 new titles including a Sonic the Hedgehog title, Sesame Street Alphabet Kitchen and Levelhead.

The service is similar to Apple Arcade, though Apple’s version only includes games. If you find yourself hating on ads and freemium games then Google Play Pass could be a good option, though Google makes it difficult to find out exactly which apps you’ll be getting before you put your money down. It’s still struggling to show its value.
