Fast Charge ep. 26: Quick Charge 5, Oppo Watch & Cross-device WhatsApp

This week on Fast Charge, Alex ‘Toddy’ Walker-Todd, Anyron Copeman and Hannah Cowton talk the introduction of Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5 fast charging tech, Oppo’s plans to re-release the Oppo Watch running Wear OS and leaked WhatsApp data, suggesting it’ll finally support multiple devices at once.

It was just the other day that we reported on Oppo’s fast-charging developments, with the release of a 125W flash charger – now Qualcomm is stepping up to the plate, to unveil its next fast-charging standard: Quick Charge 5, which the company says will refill a 4,500mAh battery to 50% in just five minutes.

Speaking of Oppo, the company launched its suspiciously Apple Watch-like Apple Watch rival – the Oppo Watch – exclusively in China, back in March. Now, however, it seems the company is ready to roll this wrist tech out to markets further afield, and this time it’ll come running Wear OS.

There’s also the matter of WhatsApp, which despite being one of the most popular chat apps in the world, with a two billion-strong user base, has up until this point only been able to run on one device at a time per phone number. After some digging around in the latest Android beta, it would appear that this trait might finally be about to change.

You can watch it all in the video embedded up above, or head straight to YouTube to watch it there (and subscribe if you fancy!).
